  • >AMERICAS TOUR Pt2: MEXICO! (4/29/2009)

    >So I got here post Coachella, Indio, the desert… seeing bands and dj’s, L.A. palms and power shakes with my friend Price James who was in L.A. filming the video for The Gossip’s new single Heavy Cross…

Then I headed to Guadalajara (Mexico) to visit my bro and his family and to play two gigs… one in La Feria de San Marcos in Aguascalientes of Friday and the other one with hosted by Suave Crew in Guadalajara on Saturday.

    AGUASCALIENTES:
Had a ride on one cool coach to get there and waiting for the were Bonde do Zombinhos Jeni and Cani took me around the city…

showed me the Feria and we start having some crazy ‘Micheladas’ from early afternoon…talking music, so excited to see there’s a lot of people so connected in so many different parts of the world! it seemed like we knew each other for a long time!

    Zombie micheladinhos!

Later we went to the venue where I met German an old friend an forum brother 😉
there we had so many more drinks including obviously tequilas! with some crazy stuff to drink after you drink the tequila shot… can’t remember the name right now…

Zombies about to start their show…

The night went amazingly well, Zombinhos killed it and by the time I went on the decks people were on fire! German and I did a bit of back to back but too drunk to remember what we played!

    GUADALAJARA:

Got early to Suite 87… big, nice place, met Poligono and many other cool dj’s from the Suave crew, including this 14 year old kid WARDRUM who was djing when I got there, damn! he was on fiya! incredible. Props for Fixe and Def LaRocka

The night started a bit slow but at the time I was playing people were doing the train and dancing and cheering! there were some really cool people there shame I wasn’t on the case with my camera but got my photos from Sol Diaz myspace which look far much better than if I had used my camera…

    Poligono and friend

  • >AMERICAS TOUR, SO FAR… (4/27/2009)

    >So I thought it was time to write about my travels…

let’s start by Los Angeles… was great even though I missed two gigs I wanted to see: Rye Rye at Dim Mak and Aeroplane at Medusa Lounge. G.U.T.T.E.D.

    Crazy breakfasts at diners:

That burger below is meant to be a ‘sausage’ btw…

Iron Maiden’s prints outside the Guitar Centre (one of my favourite places in L.A.so far) the staff is great and already have an obsession with a few toys I want to get when back in lala…

People ridding the massive boot of my friend’s cop car…

    mates passing out…

    Macro biotic food

On Friday we headed to Coachella! 4 girls and a cop car…
Had lots of fun but Cochella wasn’t at all the amazing festival I was expecting… what is it with having a limited zone for people to drink alcohol? So basically you can’t go to a certain stage and watch your favourite band or dj and enjoy a cold beer at the same time. That’s what I call lame!

Also the feeling that you’re getting ripped off all the time! is not like that in UK festivals or at least the ones I’ve been to… My opinion on Coachella is that you don’t feel there’s any philosophy behind it, there’s no purpose or ideology or theme.

I had a v.i.p pass but had a friend who bought the weekend ticket and was treated so badly… There’s no one that can give you information about anything… There is NO RE- ENTRY to the festival (EVEN FOR PEOPLE WHO WHERE CAMPING THERE!!!) I mean come on!
On the website they talked about being ‘green’ and that they’ll have water fountains everywhere and all you have to do was to bring an empty plastic bottle, when we got there discovered they were only refilling the ‘coachella’ ones which obviously there were selling (!)…

They obviously have big line ups cause they make an AWFUL lot of money! For a ticket that expensive I think is a total rip off to people who support this festival.
Coachella way to go to be like a festival in UK/europe…

On the other hand… and after I let some stuff out of my chest I really enjoyed:
-The Cure: no words can explain, they’re my favourite band ever and they played an incredible show! even until the IDIOTS at coachella cut the sound!!! they played another two songs, and we all in the audience sang along! best moment at Cuntchella.

-Paul McCartney Legend! specially when he did his beatles songs…
-M.I.A. props to Maya for headline this festival amazing moment and show!
-Zizek – My mates representing!!! props to all of ’em! in my opinion they played the best music in the whole festival hehe!

-Drop the Lime – It was great to see the avalanche of kids filling the tent once Luca started playing!
-Buraka – even though I missed them people said they were on FIYA!
Gonna think of more acts I saw and will add them alter to this post…

All in all I had a cool time, my first Coachella (might be the last one, unless I’m playing but after this rant i certainly doubt it) as many people that have been to the festival say that the whole point are the parties and after parties, and that is right!

I played at a pool party on Sunday invited by the great Franki Chan, the line up was great SpankRock, Jokers of the scene and more…

Lots of free booze, sun and pool, my idea of fun!

  • >MANU CHAO – TREN DE HIELO Y FUEGO EN COLOMBIA (3/22/2009)

    >In the 90’s Manu Chao and a bunch of friends decided to take one of the forgotten trains in Colombia, fixed it and named it EL TREN DE HIELO Y FUEGO (The train of ice and fire), the name comes from Gabriel Garcia Marquez 100 Years of Solitude.
Then they went on the adventure of travel across Colombia!
Here’s a video from that trip, and the songs are Casa Babylon and Senor Matanza:

For some reason Colombia that had important railways at some point of the last century left them disappear, instead we have the longest most stupidest roads, that makes traveling by car such a mission!
